The Toyota Matrix and the Hyundai Elantra Touring can accommodate the same number of passengers. Towing is substantially more the Toyota's forte than it is the Elantra Touring's.

Dimensions
The Toyota Matrix's tank is approximately the same size as the Hyundai Elantra Touring's, though the Hyundai Elantra Touring's is a little larger. The Toyota Matrix and the Hyundai Elantra Touring compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You'll most certainly have to take the Toyota Matrix for a fill-up more often than the Hyundai Elantra Touring because of its tank size and fuel economy.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Hyundai Elantra Touring to the dealership as the Toyota Matrix. The Toyota will tax your gas budget considerably more than the Hyundai Elantra Touring will. Producing an exact gas mileage evaluation is so difficult that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Hyundai is the winner when it comes to fuel economy. With respect to MSRP, the Hyundai Elantra Touring doesn't cost much less than the Toyota Matrix.

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Hyundai Elantra Touring and the Toyota Matrix most certainly handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Toyota Matrix's engine is a bit smaller than the Hyundai Elantra Touring's, but not terribly so. The Matrix has no lessons to learn with respect to torque from the Hyundai Elantra Touring.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Toyota offers a bit more head room than the Hyundai Elantra Touring, there frankly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Elantra Touring offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the Matrix, there really isn't much of a difference.

The basic warranty that comes with the Toyota isn't quite as generous as the Elantra Touring's.
