Combining luxury and off-road capabilities with the tradition and quality of a well-respected automaker, the 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser is a reliable full-size SUV that exudes refinement.

Redesigned last year, the Land Cruiser sports 381-horsepower by way of a 5.7-liter V-8 engine under the hood. Matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel drive is standard for proper balance and suspension on- or off-road. A new feature - "Crawl Control" – allows drivers at low speeds on rough or steep terrain to automatically engage system control of the vehicle's engine and brakes so that the driver can maintain their sole focus on steering.

With the ability to seat up to eight passengers comfortably amongst three rows, the Land Cruiser is hard-pressed to find competition within its segment, with the likes of the HUMMER H2, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne S stepping up to the same starting line. Luxury in the form of leather-trimmed seats, a navigation system with DVD player and sonar rear parking assist and backup camera for example, make up for slightly above average cabin and cargo space and a moderate fuel economy, notching 13 MPG city and 18 MPG highway.

Available interior features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, tilt/slide power moonroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, the HomeLink universal transceiver, and push-button start make for an ease-filled ride. The HomeLink system allows Land Cruiser owners to sync their garage door, lighting, and security systems to the SUV. Quad-zone automatic climate control is an additional amenity sure to delight all, and is this vehicle is CFC-free, preventing carbon emissions into the outside environment.

The Land Cruiser’s exterior frame and size aren’t the only features sure to make drivers and passengers feel safe and secure. Ten airbags along with four-wheel anti-lock brakes, brake assist, active traction control, tire-pressure monitoring system, vehicle stability control, and active front headrests for whiplash protection come standard.

An impressive vehicle sure to have the outside world take notice, the 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser is a superb match for car buyers seeking the maximum experience of full-size SUV luxury.
