Toyota Overview:

For 2009, Toyota didn’t introduces the all-new large hatchback—the Venza. The Venza seats up to five people and features V-6 power with front and all-wheel drive. Toyota also features plenty of redesigns and makeovers to last year’s fleet. The 2009 Toyota Corolla sedan has more available power and standard safety features coupled with some updated styling. The Corolla is also one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the road with 22-27 mpg in the city and 30-35 mpg on the highway.

The 2009 Matrix compact hatchback packs more power, new styling and a neat new navigation system for this popular city ride.   Value-oriented buyers will appreciate the spacious Toyota Yaris. The Yaris is now available as a four-door hatchback with standard antilock brakes, side-impact and side curtain airbags, while satellite radio is available. The Yaris is also another one of Toyota’s fuel efficient dynamos with 29 MPG in the city and 35-36 MPG on the highway.

However, as fuel efficient cars go, it doesn’t get any better than the Prius. There aren’t any significant changes for the Prius in 2009, but who needs any with 48 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway.   Speaking of hybrids, the Camry Hybrid sedan and Highlander Hybrid SUV get amazing fuel economy and remain favorites in their respective class.  The non-hybrid versions, the fan-favorite Camry midsize sedan and Highlander midsize SUV have a few new features themselves.

The base Camry is now just called Camry instead of CE.   The Highlander features a new four-cylinder base model making it one of the few midsize crossovers to offer that kind of power. The Camry Solara has been discontinued.

Toyota’s full-size flagship, the Avalon gets a new color—Cocoa Bean Metallic. If you like bigger vehicles or have a family and need the space to haul around the soccer team, the compact RAV4 crossover, retro-inspired FJ Cruiser, midsize sporty 4Runner and full-size Land Cruiser can get the job done.

Larger families will enjoy Toyota’s only minivan – the Sienna – which seats seven or eight passengers and boasts a variety of innovative interior options.

Toyota continues into 2009 with several versions of its recently redesigned, rugged full-size Tundra pickup, as well as multiple varieties of the capable midsize Tacoma pickup. All of the Tacoma’s advanced safety features come standard in 2009.

For 2009, the Sequoia full-size SUV will only be available for fleet sales, and no retail units will be offered.
