The Toyota and the Ford Flex can accommodate the same number of passengers. Towing is significantly more the Toyota Highlander Hybrid's forte than it is the Ford Flex's.

Performance
With respect to horsepower, the Ford packs quite a punch and will knock the Toyota Highlander Hybrid down a few rungs. On the flip side, bear in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums. With that kind of horsepower, the Ford Flex is a genuine sports car.

Dimensions
The Toyota's tank is roughly the same size as the Ford Flex's, though the Ford Flex's is a little larger. The Toyota and the Ford Flex compete for the same parking spaces. The Ford Flex's longer wheelbase will likely result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the flip side, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid may give a sprier feel in daily traffic.

The Ford Flex's fuel tank will need to be replenished more often than the unit in the Toyota.

The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Ford Flex to the dealership as the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. In terms of fuel economy, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid has the Ford Flex beat. In terms of MSRP, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid costs substantially more than the Ford Flex. The Ford will cost you a bundle in gas every year compared to the Toyota. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid will save you a bundle at the pump every year compared to the Ford.

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and the Ford Flex quite certainly handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Toyota's engine is a little smaller than the Ford Flex's, but not terribly so. Torque equals pickup, and the Flex will have picked up and gone by the time the Toyota Highlander Hybrid finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Flex is substantially more powerful than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Comfort
Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the Ford Flex's front cabin compared to the Highlander Hybrid. The Flex provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid does.
