2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Overview
The second-generation 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid midsize crossover sport-utility vehicle is larger, roomier, quieter and more powerful and efficient than its predecessor.

The 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is equipped with four-wheel-drive with intelligence and available in Base and Limited trims. Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive has been refined to provide more power and efficiency. The system pairs a 209-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 engine and a 650-watt electric drive motor generator coupled to a two-speed CVT for a net output of 270 horses. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings range between a healthy 27 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. To further improve efficiency, EV mode, which is activated by a switch on the center console, allows the Highlander Hybrid to operate in fully electric mode for a limited distance at low speeds.

Facing competition from the likes of the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, Ford Escape Hybrid and Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, the 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid rests atop standard alloys and feature 17-inch alloy wheels or optional 19-inch alloys. An optional towing package allows a maximum capacity of 5,000 pounds.

Inside, the 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid can seat up to seven occupants across three rows of seats, including a fold-flat third-row seat and 40/20/40 folding second-row bench, which Toyota calls “Center Stow.” This configuration allows for a maximum of 94.1 cubic feet of cargo volume. Get some fresh air using the power tilt/slide sunroof, which is now standard, as well as a backup camera with a 3.5-inch multi-information display (Sport and Limited) so you can see objects behind you. An available voice-activated DVD navigation system includes a nine-speaker JBL AM/FM four-disc in-dash CD changer, satellite radio capability and Bluetooth connectivity. Leather seating and multi-stage heated seats are available as options.

Toyota's all-encompassing Star Safety System features enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, an anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. The Hybrid’s vehicle dynamics integrated management system is designed to enhance handling, traction and braking systems by anticipating tire slippage before a skid or wheel spin. A suite of seven airbags includes advanced driver and front passenger, front seat-mounted side and a driver's knee airbag. Roll-sensing side curtain airbags protect occupants in all three rows in the event of certain side collisions or a rollover and all models are now standard equipped with front active headrests.

The 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid midsize crossover adds a whole new dimension to the eco driving experience by offering uncompromising power and performance without sacrificing fuel economy.
