Toyota FJ Cruiser vs. Hyundai Tucson Review

Utility
Neither the Hyundai Tucson nor the Toyota FJ Cruiser has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity. Towing is considerably more the Toyota's forte than it is the Tucson's.

Performance
As far as horsepower, the Toyota packs quite a wallop and will knock the Hyundai Tucson down a few rungs. On the other hand, bear in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The FJ Cruiser is substantially more bulky than the Tucson. The Hyundai Tucson's tank is approximately the same size as the Toyota FJ Cruiser's, though the Toyota FJ Cruiser's is a tad bigger. The Hyundai Tucson and the Toyota FJ Cruiser compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You quite certainly won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Toyota FJ Cruiser than with the Hyundai Tucson, as both offer similar mileage ranges.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Hyundai Tucson to the dealership as the Toyota FJ Cruiser. Producing an accurate fuel economy evaluation is so tough that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the Hyundai and the Hyundai perform about comparably regarding gas mileage. The Toyota FJ Cruiser will tax your gasoline budget considerably more than the Hyundai Tucson will. The Hyundai Tucson isn't much less costly than the FJ Cruiser as far as MSRP.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Hyundai Tucson is most certainly more agile than the FJ Cruiser, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Toyota FJ Cruiser's engine is tremendously larger than the Hyundai Tucson's. Keep in mind that larger engines may use more gas than smaller ones. Torque equals pickup, and the FJ Cruiser will have picked up and gone by the time the Tucson finally gets moving. The Hyundai could learn a lesson or two from the Toyota FJ Cruiser regarding torque.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the FJ Cruiser offers a bit more head room than the Hyundai, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Hyundai make it considerably more spacious for your passengers than the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Toyota isn't quite as generous as the Hyundai Tucson's.
