Toyota Corolla vs. Pontiac G6 Review

Cost
With respect to fuel economy, the Toyota Corolla beats the Pontiac G6. The Pontiac G6 is tremendously more expensive than the Corolla as far as MSRP. The Pontiac will cost you a bundle in gasoline every year compared to the Corolla. The Toyota Corolla will save you a bundle at the pump every year compared to the Pontiac G6.

Utility
Neither the Toyota Corolla nor the Pontiac G6 has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity. The Toyota Corolla outpulls the Pontiac by a sizeable margin.

Convenience
The Pontiac G6's fuel tank will need to be replenished somewhat more often than the unit in the Toyota Corolla.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Pontiac offers a bit more head room than the Toyota Corolla, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Pontiac G6 is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Toyota.

Dimensions
The Pontiac G6 is tremendously heavier than the Toyota. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the G6 than the Toyota Corolla because of its larger tank. The Corolla and the Pontiac G6 compete for the same parking spaces. The Toyota Corolla's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a sprier feel in daily traffic than the Pontiac G6.

Performance
As far as horsepower, the G6 packs quite a wallop and will knock the Toyota Corolla down a few rungs. On the other hand, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Toyota and the Pontiac most definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Pontiac G6 has a larger engine than the Corolla. Remember that smaller engines typically get better gas mileage, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. Torque equals pickup, and the Pontiac G6 will have picked up and gone by the time the Toyota Corolla finally gets moving. The Toyota Corolla could learn a lesson or two from the G6 as far as pickup.

Overview
The Pontiac G6 and the Toyota Corolla have the same basic warranty.
