2010 Toyota Corolla Overview
After going through a comprehensive redesign last year, the durable and fuel efficient 2010 Toyota Corolla receives minor enhancements to the already successful compact sedan.
Available in five trim levels – base, LE, S, XLE and XRS, the Corolla provides plenty of options for all types of drivers. Choose between a 1.8-liter, 132-horsepower I-4 engine, which is mated to five-speed manual and a four–speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-liter, 158-horsepower I-4 engine produces 162 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. It’s no secret that the Corolla is not a speedster, but where it excels is at the pump. The Corolla receives excellent fuel economy with 22-27 mpg in the city and 30-35 mpg on the highway. The Corolla competes with the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra and Mazda3.
Standard features for the base Corolla include air-conditioning, power mirrors, MP3/WMA-capable CD player with text display with auxiliary audio jack, satellite radio capability, and 15-inch steel wheels. If that isn’t serious enough, S, XLE and XRS trims feature an optional 6-disc in-dash CD changer with XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth capability and eight-speaker, 440-watt JBL sound system. Toyota’s touch screen DVD navigation system with real-time traffic and a power tilt-slide moonroof with sunshade are also optional on S, XLE and XRS models. If you desire a sportier ride, upgrade to 16-inch wheels, fog lights, sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and underbody spoilers.
When it comes to safety, the 2010 Toyota Corolla has you and your family covered with an array of standard features. Driver and front passenger front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags with active headrests help keep you in place in the event of a collision. A 4-wheel anti-lock brake system with Electronic Brake-Force distribution, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability control and Traction Control help prevent your Corolla from losing control.
