Toyota Camry Hybrid vs. Chevrolet Malibu Review

Performance
With respect to horsepower, the Malibu packs quite a wallop and will knock the Toyota Camry Hybrid down a few rungs. On the other hand, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Toyota is quite certainly more agile than the Chevrolet Malibu, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, remember that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Chevrolet Malibu's engine isn't much more massive than the Toyota Camry Hybrid's. The Toyota Camry Hybrid could learn a lesson or two from the Chevrolet Malibu with respect to torque. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Chevrolet Malibu is substantially more powerful than the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Utility
Neither the Chevrolet Malibu nor the Toyota Camry Hybrid has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity.

Convenience
You'll quite certainly have to take the Chevrolet Malibu for a fill-up more often than the Toyota Camry Hybrid because of its tank size and fuel economy.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Chevrolet Malibu offers a bit more head room than the Toyota Camry Hybrid, there honestly isn't much of a difference. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Chevrolet Malibu.

Dimensions
The Malibu's tank is almost the same size as the Toyota Camry Hybrid's, though the Toyota's is a bit larger. The Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Chevrolet Malibu compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Chevrolet Malibu to the dealership as the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Chevrolet Malibu will tax your gasoline budget substantially more than the Toyota Camry Hybrid will. In terms of fuel economy, the Toyota Camry Hybrid is a tad better than the Malibu, but not by much. In terms of MSRP, the Toyota costs approximately as much as the Malibu (though the Malibu is a little cheaper).
