The 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid is a full-size family sedan that offers even more fuel efficiency over its conventional gas-engine counterpart. For 2016, its exterior and interior have been given a style makeover. It also comes with additional standard equipment.
The Avalon Hybrid has three trims: the XLE Plus, XLE Premium, and Limited.
The Avalon Hybrid has redesigned front and rear bumpers, which include a wider front grille, front turn signals, and LED taillights. Front and rear chrome accents also give a touch of luxury to the Avalon Hybrid. Other standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, and heated mirrors. Larger 18-inch wheels and high-beam headlights are also available.
The Avalon Hybrid utilizes Toyota’s Synergy Drive, pairing a 156-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric drive system. The front wheels are powered by a 2-speed continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Fuel economy for the Avalon Hybrid is an EPA-estimated 40/39 mpg city/highway.
Inside, all Avalon Hybrid trims have an upscale, light gray stitched interior with leather-trimmed seats. For information and entertainment, the Avalon Hybrid’s center console features Toyota’s Entune multimedia system, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, voice control, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, 8 audio speakers, satellite radio, an auxillary jack, and a USB/iPod interface. Other standard features include a moonroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats. A memory system for the driver’s seat and side mirrors is also available.
The Avalon Hybrid earned a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the IIHS. A tire-pressure monitoring system, airbags, antilock brakes, and an electronic stability system come standard. A backup camera, a collision warning system, and lane departure alert are available as well.
