The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Toyota to the dealership as the Ford Explorer. Producing an exact fuel economy evaluation is so hard that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Toyota is the winner with respect to fuel economy. The Toyota 4Runner will save you money at the pump compared to the Ford Explorer. The 4Runner isn't much pricier than the Ford Explorer in terms of MSRP.

Utility
Drivers with frequent kid-duty might favor the Ford Explorer over the Toyota 4Runner. There's no clear winner between the Toyota 4Runner and the Ford Explorer with respect to hauling capacity.
