2009 Toyota 4Runner Overview

The 4Runner is available in three trim levels: SR5, Sport Edition and Limited. Each comes with a standard choice of a 4.0-liter V-6 engine exuding 236-horsepower or a 4.7-liter V-8 beast under the hood flexing 260-horsepower for any competition the road engages. All models come fully-equipped with four-wheel drive and five-speed automatic transmission capabilities.
A new optional Trail Edition package is powered by a four-wheel drive V-6 engine that features active traction control, Bilstein shocks, 16-inch alloy wheels, tubular side steps and roof rack. Lining up on the starting blocks with the 4Runner are competition from the Nissan Pathfinder and Kia Borrego. Fuel economy is average for this type of vehicle and others in its class, exhibiting 16 MPG city and 21 MPG highway for necessary gas mileage on any length of drive.
An optional third-row seat expands the interior capacity to seven passengers for the 4Runner. Stability control, traction control, driver and passenger seat-mounted side airbags, and first and second row side-curtain airbags with roll-over sensors are standard features that have continued Toyota’s tradition of safety excellence.
Front bucket seats, leather upholstery and 8-way power driver seat controls further the 4Runner’s already-stellar interior amenities. Tilt and telescopic steering wheel assist taller drivers for added comfort. Audio and cruise controls on steering wheel make multi-tasking made simple.
