The Suzuki XL7 and the Toyota Highlander can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Toyota Highlander is a better choice than the Suzuki in terms of transporting cargo, especially if you often need to carry a lot of equipment or massive animals. Towing is considerably more the Suzuki XL7's forte than it is the Toyota Highlander's.

Dimensions
The Suzuki XL7's tank is about the same size as the Toyota Highlander's, though the Toyota Highlander's is a bit bigger. The Highlander and the XL7 compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You likely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Suzuki XL7 than with the Toyota Highlander, because both offer comparable ranges.

While the front cabin in the XL7 offers a bit more head room than the Toyota Highlander, there really isn't much of a difference. The XL7 is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Toyota Highlander.
