As far as gas mileage, the Suzuki XL-7 and the Kia don't differ much. The Kia Sorento will tax your gasoline budget markedly more than the Suzuki XL-7 will. The Suzuki XL-7 isn't much costlier than the Kia Sorento as far as MSRP.

Utility
Drivers with frequent kid-duty might favor the Suzuki XL-7 over the Kia Sorento.
