Suzuki Grand Vitara vs. Pontiac Torrent Review

The Grand Vitara and the Pontiac Torrent can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Pontiac outpulls the Suzuki Grand Vitara by a large margin.

Dimensions
The Pontiac Torrent is a little heavier than the Grand Vitara. The Pontiac Torrent's tank is approximately the same size as the Suzuki Grand Vitara's, though the Suzuki Grand Vitara's is a little larger. The Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Pontiac Torrent compete for the same parking spaces. The Suzuki Grand Vitara's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a sprier feel in daily traffic than the Pontiac Torrent.

Convenience
The Pontiac Torrent's fuel tank will need to be replenished a bit more often than the unit in the Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Pontiac Torrent to the dealership as the Suzuki. The Suzuki Grand Vitara won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Pontiac Torrent. With respect to gas mileage, the Grand Vitara is a tad better than the Pontiac Torrent, but not by much. The Suzuki isn't much less expensive than the Pontiac Torrent as far as MSRP.

The Pontiac and the Suzuki Grand Vitara have approximately comparable tires.

Drivetrain
The Suzuki Grand Vitara's engine is markedly smaller than the Pontiac Torrent's. Note that smaller engines can be stressed more; however, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Pontiac Torrent is substantially more powerful than the Suzuki Grand Vitara. The Suzuki could learn a lesson or two from the Torrent as far as torque.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Pontiac Torrent offers a bit more head room than the Suzuki Grand Vitara, there honestly isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Pontiac Torrent make it markedly roomier for your passengers than the Grand Vitara.
