Suzuki Equator vs. Ford Ranger Review

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Suzuki Equator packs quite a punch and will knock the Ford Ranger down a few rungs. On the other hand, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Ford is quite certainly nimbler than the Suzuki Equator, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Suzuki Equator's engine isn't much more massive than the Ranger's. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Suzuki Equator isn't much more powerful than the Ford Ranger.

Utility
The Ford's more sizeable trunk will accommodate more big objects than the Suzuki Equator. The Suzuki will quite certainly prove handier than the Ford for those of you with frequent child-cargo. There's no clear winner between the Suzuki Equator and the Ford Ranger in terms of transporting cargo. Towing is considerably more the Suzuki Equator's forte than it is the Ford's.

Convenience
You'll likely take the Ford Ranger for a fill-up about as often as the Suzuki Equator.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Suzuki Equator offers a bit more head room than the Ford Ranger, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Ford Ranger make it more spacious for your passengers than the Suzuki Equator.

Dimensions
The Ford's tank is about the same size as the Suzuki's, though the Suzuki's is a bit larger. The Ford Ranger and the Suzuki Equator compete for the same parking spaces. The Ford Ranger's shorter wheelbase will likely give a nimbler feel in daily traffic. On the other hand, the Suzuki Equator is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the Ranger to the dealership as the Suzuki Equator. The Ranger won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Suzuki. Regarding MSRP, the Suzuki Equator costs substantially more than the Ford Ranger.

Warranty
The Equator and the Ford Ranger have the same basic after-sale protection.
