2008 Subaru Legacy Overview
As Subaru’s flagship sedan, the 2008 Subaru Legacy adds new front and rear styling elements, a revised interior, a new V6 engine option, and drops the wagon body style. With four trim levels to choose from, the Legacy starts with a very capable 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower, offering entertaining acceleration. 2.5 GT and 2.5 GT spec.B models share a 243-horsepower turbocharged engine that offers ferocious acceleration. The new 3.0R Limited brings a 245-horsepower 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine with smooth, linear power delivery. A variety of crisp-shifting manual or automatic transmissions are available, with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters available on the 3.0R for quick fingertip shifting capability. Brand new for 2008, optional SI-DRIVE allows you to maximize engine performance, control and efficiency by choosing "Intelligent", "Sport" and "Sport Sharp" modes. Operated by using a rotary dial mounted on the center console or a button on the steering wheel, it’s like having three engines in one. All Legacy models come with continuous symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, providing enhanced traction and power to keep the car under control in a variety of road conditions. A variety of audio systems are available with an optional 6-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3/WMA capability and auxiliary audio jack for portable media players. An available touch-screen GPS navigation system provides detailed maps and directions to guide your way. Achieving a 5-star front and side impact crash test rating, it’s one of the safest sedans in its class. Optional Vehicle Dynamics Control can sense a loss of control, applying the brakes and reducing engine power to help keep you on your intended path. Standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with Electronic Brake-force distribution create additional braking power and prevent wheel lockup. The optional Traction Control System helps to avoid a loss of traction during acceleration. The advanced frontal airbag system features dual front airbags, side-curtain airbags and seat-mounted side-impact airbags to protect front and rear passengers. From mild-mannered family sedan to turbocharged road rocket, the 2008 Subaru Legacy plays a variety of roles and excels at them all |
