2011 Scion xD Overview
The quirky 2011 Scion xD hatchback is a stylish alternative in the sub-compact segment and returns for this year unchanged from last year’s model.
Starting under the hood, the 2011 xD features a 128-horsepower, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that is mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy numbers for this are competitive with other small cars and check in at 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The xD competes with other entry level hatchbacks like the Nissan Versa, Honda Fit, and Kia Rio5.
The xD is similar in appearance to the larger Scion xB with a somewhat boxy stance. Exterior features include 16-inch wheels, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a chrome exhaust tip, and a rear-window wiper. Scion is known for making cars that are highly customizable and the xD is no exception, allowing you to choose between three different wheel designs.
Inside, you’ll find a pair of sport bucket seats up front and a 60/40 split-folding rear bench which can fold flat to open up cargo space. Behind the seats, there’s a storage well which sits below the cargo floor and adds extra room. Standard features include a USB and auxiliary audio input jacks, air conditioning, power windows and locks, and remote keyless entry. A navigation system and upgraded stereo system are available as options.
Six airbags, electronic stability, and antilock brakes all come standard and help to keep the xD safe. There is even a first aid kit included.
The 2011 Scion xD manages to pack a lot of car onto its small frame and offers unique style that’s not usually found in this segment.
