2015 Scion xB Overview
- Boxy, five seat car with plenty of cargo room
- Rearview camera now standard
- 22/28 mpg city/highway
The original boxy car, the 2015 Scion xB remains one of the most unique and recognizable cars on the road today.
The xB competes with like-shaped people movers including the Nissan Cube and Kia Soul but the xB remains the original. For 2015, a rearview camera is now standard and that rounds out the changes for the new model year. While the xB has the length/width of a small car, its height means that the interior feels anything but crowded. This latest generation of xB has more curves and a smoother overall appearance than the original model, but it keeps the same basic shape.
Under the hood is a 158-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 162 pounds-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, with a four-speed automatic also available. The front-wheel drive xB gets an estimated 22/28 mpg city/highway.
The xB’s interior is as uniquely styled as its exterior, with the instrument panel moved from in front of the driver up to the top of the dashboard, similar to what you’d find in a Toyota Prius minus the LCD screens. This setup divides the dash into two tiers, with the upper tier holding the instruments, and the lower portion containing the audio system and climate controls found in the center console. Standard features include USB/iPod port, 60/40-split folding rear seat, air conditioning, cruise control, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
Standard safety features include all-disc antilock brakes, side-impact and side curtain airbags, electronic stability system, and traction control.
