2012 Scion tC Overview
Scion offers an affordable, comfortable coupe with the 2012 five-seat tC hatchback. Well-equipped with standard tech and interior features, the tC is a practical choice for drivers in the market for a well-priced sports coupe.
The front-wheel drive Scion tC uses a 180-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that runs on regular gas and is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. A six speed automatic transmission is available. Electric power steering and cruise control are included.
The Scion tC gets 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, with either the manual or automatic transmission.
The tC features sport front bucket seats with a height adjustable driver’s seat, and 60/40-split reclining, fold-flat rear seats. The leather-trimmed steering wheel has a tilt/telescope adjust and audio controls. The air conditioning and power door locks/windows are standard. The tC’s trunk yields 14.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in place. A standard Pioneer audio system includes in-dash CD-player, HD Radio, Bluetooth®, auxiliary audio jack, and a USB port with iPod connectivity. A large LCD touch screen can be added that controls these functions. Satellite radio and a navigation system with traffic display are available.
One of the highligths of the tC is its standard panoramic glass roof with a front power tilt/slide moonroof that gives the car an open feeling. The tC is actually more of a two-door hatchback, but it adopts the look and feel of a coupe. The large lower black grille is accented with indented side grilles that house optional fog lights. Projector-beam headlights and power outside mirrors with LED turn signals are included, and the rear is accented with a chrome-tipped exhaust. Eighteen-inch alloy wheels also come standard. Wheel upgrades include 19-inch alloy wheels and alloy wheel locks.
The Scion tC comes equipped with driver and front passenger airbags, knee airbags, and seat-mounted side airbags. Side curtain airbags protect both front and rear passengers, and the driver and front passenger seats include active head restraints. Anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, electronic stability and traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system come standard, and a “Smart Stop” system reduces engine power when the brake pedal and accelerator are pressed at the same time is included.
The 2012 Scion tC combines a great standard audio system, comfortable and roomy seating, and attractive styling in an affordable, sporty five-seat coupe.
