As more and more people opt for fuel efficient vehicles, Saturn is offering new hybrid versions of their gas-only fleet. For 2009, Saturn introduces the all-new Aura and Vue Hybrid’s, while eliminating the Green Line Hybrid models. The five-seat Aura Hybrid midsize sedan gets phenomenal fuel economy with 26 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway, while emitting a paltry 6.3 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
Saturn took its stylish and popular Vue compact SUV and gave it two different hybrid engines. The two-mode hybrid drivetrain employs two electric motors and a high-voltage battery pack. Connect that to a 3.6-liter, 255-horsepower V-6 and you have plenty of power. Expect to get 25 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway with the two-mode hybrid. The Vue Mild Hybrid is similar to the Aura Hybrid and gets good fuel economy, but with less horsepower.
Last year, Saturn introduced the all-new Astra to replace the Ion compact sedan and coupe. Based on the European Opel model of the same name, this entry-level two- or four-door hatchback features spry acceleration and good fuel economy. Interior quality is accented by heated cloth or leather seating and boasts generous cargo room.
After going through a makeover last year, the Saturn Vue is a stylish compact SUV that has quickly become Saturn’s second-best-selling model and features an improved interior and a wealth of safety features. It is also available in a powerful, sporty Red Line variant.
The Aura midsize sedan comes equipped with a four-cylinder or V-6 engine and XM Satellite Radio comes standard on all models. From those searching for a crossover model with excellent cargo room, the Outlook comprises a spacious interior that seats seven passengers. The Outlook gets an updated 3.6-liter V-6 engine and features front- or all-wheel drive and an available rear backup camera and Panic Brake Assist.
The exhilarating Sky two-seat roadster boasts rear-wheel drive and a high-performance Red Line version that boasts a 2.0-liter, 260-horsepower four-cylinder engine.
