The thoroughly refreshed 2008 Saab 9-3 offers tweaked styling this year, increased turbo power, and the option of XWD – Saab’s new all-wheel drive system.

Available in three body styles – Sports Sedan, Convertible, and SportCombi (wagon) – the new 9-3 offers excellent handling and ample cargo room. All body styles are available in two trim lines, the 2.0T and powerful Aero. 2.0T models feature a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 210 horsepower and ample thrust. It’s mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic with manual mode that offers smooth gear changes. Aero models boast a 2.8 liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine making 255 horsepower mated to the 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with manumatic shifting ability. Standard front-wheel drive offers excellent all-season handling, while the new available XWD “cross-wheel drive” system for sedans and wagons offers all-wheel drive capability and a limited slip differential to aid handling, stability, and traction on a variety of road surfaces.

An abundance of safety features includes 4-wheel disc brakes with power assist, an Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Mechanical Brake Assist for powerful stopping ability and fade-resistant performance after repeated stops. To enhance stability and prevent wheelspin, the 9-3 features a standard Traction Control System and Electronic Stability Program. Standard adaptive dual front airbags, front seat torso side airbags, and head-curtain side airbags offer excellent passenger protection in a collision.
