2009 Saab 9-5 Overview
As Saab’s flagship car, the 2009 Saab 9-5 continues to offer a robust turbo engine, unique Swedish styling, and a wealth of innovative features.

Available in three levels – 2.3T, Aero and Griffin Edition – the 9-5 is available as a four-door sedan or SportCombi wagon. The standard 2.3-liter, 260-horsepower 4-cylinder turbocharged engine has rapid acceleration and excellent passing power. The standard five-speed Sentronic automatic transmission allows you to manually shift gears with steering wheel buttons, while the optional five-speed manual gearbox lets you rip through the gears with zeal. Standard front-wheel drive offers excellent handling in all weather conditions. Aero models feature a lowered, sport-tuned chassis for excellent control and tight handling. The 9-5 gets great fuel economy with 17-18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway and competes with the Acura TL, Volvo S60 and Lincoln MKZ.

Inside, an optional DVD-based Navigation System includes turn-by-turn directions, detailed maps, and a trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer for the best guide on your journey. The standard Harman/Kardon audio system features 200 watts of power, nine speakers, and an MP3-compatible auxiliary input jack for an excellent audio experience. Standard leather-appointed sport seats offer excellent lateral support and comfort; while 8-way power heated front seats with memory help you find the perfect driving position. The optional Visibility Package includes aerodynamic Xenon High-Intensity Discharge headlamps for enhanced illumination, the Saab Parking Assistance system, and auto-dimming/power folding outside mirrors.

Safety features include 4-wheel disc brakes with power assist and an Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution for excellent stopping power and fade-free performance. A standard Electronic Stability Program and Traction Control System offers balanced handling and control during evasive maneuvers, and minimal wheelspin on slippery roads. Standard adaptive dual front airbags and seat-mounted side head/torso airbags offer enhanced passenger protection in a collision. A standard tire pressure monitoring system constantly monitors pressure and alerts the driver to any changes in inflation.

Saab’s slogan “Born From Jets” is spot-on when it comes to turbo power, unique styling, and a wealth of safety features and amenities that make the 2009 Saab 9-5 an enticing choice in the midsize luxury car market.
