2014 Scion tC vs. 2014 Scion xD Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
The Scion tC offers rear passengers about the same space to stretch out as the Scion xD with comparable rear head- and legroom in both vehicles. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the Scion tC and the Scion xD in the front seats.

Convenience
The Scion tC will require fewer stops at the gas station than the Scion xD, making it more convenient to drive.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Scion tC will definitely make more of a dent in your wallet than the Scion xD, which has a much lower MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Scion tC and the Scion xD have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the Scion tC is much wider than the Scion xD, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. If you go with the Scion tC, you may be circling the block looking for a space large enough to park more often than with the Scion xD.

Drivetrain
Due to its much higher torque, the engine of the Scion tC does a much better job of transmitting power to the wheels than the Scion xD.

Handling
The Scion tC has about the same turning radius as the Scion xD, allowing equal maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Scion tC has a much more powerful engine than the Scion xD. However, something you should consider is that higher horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the Scion tC and the Scion xD. The Scion tC has significantly less cargo room than the Scion xD, which may be a concern if you do a lot of warehouse shopping.

Warranty
The Scion tC comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Scion xD.
