2016 Scion tC vs. 2016 Scion FR-S Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Due to its greater rear head- and legroom, backseat passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Scion tC than the Scion FR-S. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the Scion tC and the Scion FR-S in the front seats.

Convenience
The Scion tC will require fewer stops at the gas station than the Scion FR-S, making it more convenient to drive.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Based on MSRP, the Scion tC is clearly a better financial choice over the Scion FR-S. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Scion tC and the Scion FR-S have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
The Scion tC is a little wider than the Scion FR-S, so getting in and out of the car in a crowded parking lot may be a little more of a squeeze. If you go with the Scion tC, you may be circling the block looking for a space large enough to park more often than with the Scion FR-S.

Drivetrain
With somewhat higher torque, the engine of the Scion tC transmits a bit more power to the wheels than the Scion FR-S.

Handling
The Scion tC has a larger turning radius than the Scion FR-S, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
The Scion tC has less horsepower than the Scion FR-S, so it will probably be somewhat slower.

Utility
The Scion tC offers greater seating capacity than the Scion FR-S, making it a better choice for those who find themselves chauffeuring others around. With its significantly greater cargo capacity, the Scion tC will be able to haul more equipment or luggage than the Scion FR-S.

Warranty
The Scion tC comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Scion FR-S.
