2014 Mitsubishi Lancer vs. 2014 Chevrolet Malibu Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the back seat will feel a little more squished in the Mitsubishi Lancer than in the Chevrolet Malibu, due to the Mitsubishi Lancer's smaller rear head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Chevrolet Malibu in the front seats.

Convenience
With the Chevrolet Malibu you will definitely be making less frequent stops at the gas station than with the Mitsubishi Lancer, due to its tank size and fuel economy.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Based on MSRP, the Mitsubishi Lancer is clearly a better financial choice over the Chevrolet Malibu. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Mitsubishi Lancer and the Chevrolet Malibu have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the Mitsubishi Lancer is much slimmer than the Chevrolet Malibu, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the Mitsubishi Lancer, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the Chevrolet Malibu.

Drivetrain
With similar torque, the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Chevrolet Malibu do an equal job of transmitting their engine's power to their wheels.

Handling
The Mitsubishi Lancer has a significantly smaller turning radius than the Chevrolet Malibu, allowing much better maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Performance
The Mitsubishi Lancer has less horsepower than the Chevrolet Malibu, so it will probably be somewhat slower.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Chevrolet Malibu. The Mitsubishi Lancer has less cargo capacity than the Chevrolet Malibu, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
You'll have greater peace of mind with the more generous basic warranty of the Mitsubishi Lancer than that of the Chevrolet Malibu.
