2014 Mazda Mazda3 vs. 2014 Scion FR-S Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Due to its greater rear head- and legroom, backseat passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Mazda Mazda3 than the Scion FR-S. Offering just a little more front head- and legroom than the Scion FR-S, the Mazda Mazda3 may be a little roomier and more comfortable for the driver and front seat passengers.

Convenience
With the Mazda Mazda3 you will definitely be making fewer stops at the gas station than with the Scion FR-S, due to its larger tank size and better fuel economy.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the Mazda Mazda3 will have less of an impact on your bank account than the Scion FR-S. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Mazda Mazda3 will cost more in transportation costs than the Scion FR-S.

Dimensions
The Mazda Mazda3 is a little wider than the Scion FR-S, so getting in and out of the car in a crowded parking lot may be a little more of a squeeze. If you go with the Mazda Mazda3, you may be circling the block looking for a space large enough to park more often than with the Scion FR-S.

Drivetrain
With similar torque, the Mazda Mazda3 and the Scion FR-S do an equal job of transmitting their engine's power to their wheels.

Handling
The Mazda Mazda3 has about the same turning radius as the Scion FR-S, allowing equal maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the Mazda Mazda3 is significantly less powerful than the Scion FR-S. The good news is that, reportedly, cars with lower horsepower engines often have lower insurance premiums.

Utility
The Mazda Mazda3 offers greater seating capacity than the Scion FR-S, making it a better choice for those who find themselves chauffeuring others around. With its significantly greater cargo capacity, the Mazda Mazda3 will be able to haul more equipment or luggage than the Scion FR-S.

Warranty
The Mazda Mazda3 comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Scion FR-S.
