2014 Lexus RX 350 vs. 2014 Ford Explorer Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the backseat will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Ford Explorer than in the Lexus RX 350, due to its greater head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the Lexus RX 350 and the Ford Explorer.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Lexus RX 350 as you will with the Ford Explorer, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Lexus RX 350 is somewhat more expensive than the Ford Explorer. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the Lexus RX 350 and the Ford Explorer have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the Lexus RX 350 is much slimmer than the Ford Explorer, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. The Lexus RX 350 is slightly shorter than the Ford Explorer, which may make it easier to park.

Drivetrain
With similar torque, the Lexus RX 350 and the Ford Explorer are about even in transmitting their respective horsepower to the wheels.

Handling
The Lexus RX 350 has the same turning radius as the Ford Explorer, so they both maneuver the same in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Ford Explorer is clearly the choice over the Lexus RX 350 for pulling heavy loads. The Lexus RX 350 has a little less horsepower than the Ford Explorer.

Utility
The Lexus RX 350 has less seating than the Ford Explorer, making the Ford Explorer the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. You'll be able to fit about the same amount of groceries in the Lexus RX 350 as you will in the Ford Explorer.

Warranty
You'll have greater peace of mind with the more generous basic warranty of the Lexus RX 350 than that of the Ford Explorer.
