2014 Jeep Compass vs. 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Rear passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Jeep Compass than in the Toyota FJ Cruiser. The Toyota FJ Cruiser will be a hit with tall drivers and their front seat passengers, since it has greater front head- and legroom than the Jeep Compass.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Jeep Compass as you will with the Toyota FJ Cruiser, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Clearly, the Jeep Compass is a better financial choice over the Toyota FJ Cruiser, when considering MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Destination Charge for the Jeep Compass is much higher than that for the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Dimensions
Since the Jeep Compass is much slimmer than the Toyota FJ Cruiser, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the Jeep Compass, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Drivetrain
The Jeep Compass has much lower torque than the Toyota FJ Cruiser, which generally means that it won't feel as fast or powerful.

Handling
The Jeep Compass has a significantly smaller turning radius than the Toyota FJ Cruiser, allowing you to much more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Toyota FJ Cruiser is clearly the choice over the Jeep Compass for pulling heavy loads. When it comes to horsepower, the Jeep Compass has a lot less horsepower than the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Jeep Compass and the Toyota FJ Cruiser. The Jeep Compass has less cargo space than the Toyota FJ Cruiser, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The Jeep Compass comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Toyota FJ Cruiser.
