2017 GMC Terrain vs. 2016 Mazda CX-9 Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
The GMC Terrain offers a bit more room for passengers in the back seat than the Mazda CX-9. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the GMC Terrain and the Mazda CX-9.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the GMC Terrain as you will with the Mazda CX-9, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Clearly, the GMC Terrain is a better financial choice over the Mazda CX-9, when considering MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the GMC Terrain and the Mazda CX-9 have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
If you go with the GMC Terrain, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the Mazda CX-9.

Drivetrain
The GMC Terrain has much lower torque than the Mazda CX-9, which generally means that it won't feel as fast or powerful.

Handling
The GMC Terrain has a larger turning radius than the Mazda CX-9, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Mazda CX-9 is clearly the choice over the GMC Terrain for pulling heavy loads. The GMC Terrain has a little more horsepower than the Mazda CX-9.

Utility
The GMC Terrain has less seating than the Mazda CX-9, making the Mazda CX-9 the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. The GMC Terrain has less cargo space than the Mazda CX-9, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The GMC Terrain comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Mazda CX-9.
