2014 GMC Sierra 3500HD vs. 2014 RAM 2500 Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Due to its greater head- and legroom, passengers in the extended cab will be able to stretch out a lot more in the RAM 2500 than in the GMC Sierra 3500HD. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the GMC Sierra 3500HD and the RAM 2500.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The GMC Sierra 3500HD is somewhat more expensive than the RAM 2500. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The GMC Sierra 3500HD costs less to deliver to the dealership than the RAM 2500.

Dimensions
Since the GMC Sierra 3500HD is much wider than the RAM 2500, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. For some people, bigger is better. If that's the case for you, then you'll be happier with the GMC Sierra 3500HD, which is slightly longer than the RAM 2500.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the GMC Sierra 3500HD doesn't do as good a job transmitting horsepower to its wheels as the RAM 2500.

Handling
The GMC Sierra 3500HD has a significantly larger turning radius than the RAM 2500, making it much more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
If you've got something you need to tow, the GMC Sierra 3500HD will do just as well as the RAM 2500, since they have about the same towing capacity. The GMC Sierra 3500HD has a little less horsepower than the RAM 2500.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit the same number of people in the GMC Sierra 3500HD as you will the RAM 2500. You'll be able to haul more material in the GMC Sierra 3500HD than the RAM 2500, due to its significantly greater cargo capacity.

Warranty
The GMC Sierra 3500HD comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the RAM 2500.
