2014 Ford Flex vs. 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Rear passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Ford Flex than in the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid offers just a little more front head- and legroom than the Ford Flex, offering the driver and front passenger a bit more room and comfort.

Convenience
The Toyota Highlander Hybrid requires fewer stops at the gas station than the Ford Flex, making it more convenient to drive.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the Ford Flex will have less of an impact on your bank account than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the Ford Flex and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
The Ford Flex is about the same width as the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. If you go with the Ford Flex, you may be circling the block looking for a space large enough to park more often than with the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Drivetrain
With somewhat higher torque, the Ford Flex transmits power to its wheels a bit more effectively than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Handling
The Ford Flex has a larger turning radius than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid is clearly the choice over the Ford Flex for pulling heavy loads. The Ford Flex has a little more horsepower than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Ford Flex and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The Ford Flex has less cargo space than the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The Ford Flex comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
