2014 Ford Expedition vs. 2015 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
The Ford Expedition offers rear passengers about the same room to stretch out as the GMC Yukon XL 1500, with comparable head- and legroom. The GMC Yukon XL 1500 will be a hit with tall drivers and their front seat passengers, since it has greater front head- and legroom than the Ford Expedition.

Convenience
With the GMC Yukon XL 1500, you will definitely be making fewer stops at the gas station than with the Ford Expedition, due to its tank size and fuel economy.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the Ford Expedition will have less of an impact on your bank account than the GMC Yukon XL 1500. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Destination Charge for the Ford Expedition is much higher than that for the GMC Yukon XL 1500.

Dimensions
Since the Ford Expedition is much slimmer than the GMC Yukon XL 1500, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the Ford Expedition, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the GMC Yukon XL 1500.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the Ford Expedition doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the GMC Yukon XL 1500.

Handling
The Ford Expedition has a smaller turning radius than the GMC Yukon XL 1500, allowing you to more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the GMC Yukon XL 1500 is clearly the choice over the Ford Expedition for pulling heavy loads. The Ford Expedition has a little less horsepower than the GMC Yukon XL 1500.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Ford Expedition and the GMC Yukon XL 1500. The Ford Expedition has less cargo space than the GMC Yukon XL 1500, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The Ford Expedition comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the GMC Yukon XL 1500.
