2015 BMW X6 M vs. 2016 BMW X5 Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the backseat will be able to stretch out a lot more in the BMW X5 than in the BMW X6 M, due to its greater head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the BMW X6 M and the BMW X5.

Convenience
With the BMW X5, you will definitely be making fewer stops at the gas station than with the BMW X6 M, due to its tank size and fuel economy.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The BMW X6 M will definitely make more of a dent in your wallet than the BMW X5, which has a much lower MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the BMW X6 M and the BMW X5 have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the BMW X6 M is much wider than the BMW X5, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. When looking at overall length, the BMW X6 M takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the BMW X5.

Drivetrain
Due to its much higher torque, the BMW X6 M does a much better job of transmitting its engine's horsepower to its wheels than the BMW X5.

Handling
The BMW X6 M has the same turning radius as the BMW X5, so they both maneuver the same in and out of tight spots.

Performance
If you've got something you need to pull, the BMW X6 M will do just as well as the BMW X5, since they have about the same towing capacity. When it comes to horsepower, the BMW X6 M greatly out-muscles the BMW X5.

Utility
The BMW X6 M has less seating than the BMW X5, making the BMW X5 the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. The BMW X6 M has less cargo space than the BMW X5, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
The BMW X6 M comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the BMW X5.
