2013 BMW 550 Gran Turismo vs. 2014 BMW 650 Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Due to its greater rear head- and legroom, backseat passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the BMW 550 Gran Turismo than the BMW 650. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the BMW 550 Gran Turismo and the BMW 650 in the front seats.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the BMW 550 Gran Turismo as you will with the BMW 650, as they get the same number of miles per tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Based on MSRP, the BMW 550 Gran Turismo is clearly a better financial choice over the BMW 650. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The BMW 550 Gran Turismo and the BMW 650 have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
The BMW 550 Gran Turismo is about the same width as the BMW 650. For some people, bigger is better. If that's the case for you, then you'll be happier with the BMW 550 Gran Turismo, which is slightly longer than the BMW 650.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque, the BMW 550 Gran Turismo doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the BMW 650.

Handling
The BMW 550 Gran Turismo has a larger turning radius than the BMW 650, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
The BMW 550 Gran Turismo has less horsepower than the BMW 650, so it will probably be somewhat slower.

Utility
The BMW 550 Gran Turismo offers greater seating capacity than the BMW 650, making it a better choice for those who find themselves chauffeuring others around. With its significantly greater cargo capacity, the BMW 550 Gran Turismo will be able to haul more equipment or luggage than the BMW 650.

Warranty
The BMW 550 Gran Turismo comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the BMW 650.
