2013 BMW 128 vs. 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
Passengers in the back seat will feel a little more squished in the BMW 128 than in the Volkswagen Beetle, due to the BMW 128's smaller rear head- and legroom. Offering just a little more front head- and legroom than the BMW 128, drivers may find the Volkswagen Beetle a little roomier and somewhat more comfortable.

Convenience
With the Volkswagen Beetle you will definitely be making less frequent stops at the gas station than with the BMW 128, due to its tank size and fuel economy.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The BMW 128 will definitely make more of a dent in your wallet than the Volkswagen Beetle, which has a much lower MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. The Destination Charge for the BMW 128 is much higher than that for the Volkswagen Beetle.

Dimensions
Since the BMW 128 is much slimmer than the Volkswagen Beetle, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. For some people, bigger is better. If that's the case for you, then you'll be happier with the BMW 128, which is slightly longer than the Volkswagen Beetle.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque, the BMW 128 doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Volkswagen Beetle.

Handling
The BMW 128 has about the same turning radius as the Volkswagen Beetle, allowing equal maneuverability in and out of tight spots.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the BMW 128 has a much more powerful engine than the Volkswagen Beetle. However, something you should consider is that higher horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the BMW 128 and the Volkswagen Beetle. The BMW 128 has a roomier cargo area for holding your bags or other items than the Volkswagen Beetle.

Warranty
You'll have greater peace of mind with the more generous basic warranty of the BMW 128 than that of the Volkswagen Beetle.
