2013 Audi Q5 hybrid vs. 2014 Volkswagen Touareg Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
The Audi Q5 hybrid offers rear passengers about the same room to stretch out as the Volkswagen Touareg, with comparable head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the Audi Q5 hybrid and the Volkswagen Touareg.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Audi Q5 hybrid as you will with the Volkswagen Touareg, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the Audi Q5 hybrid will have less of an impact on your bank account than the Volkswagen Touareg. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the Audi Q5 hybrid and the Volkswagen Touareg have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the Audi Q5 hybrid is much slimmer than the Volkswagen Touareg, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. The Audi Q5 hybrid is slightly shorter than the Volkswagen Touareg, which may make it easier to park.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the Audi Q5 hybrid doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Volkswagen Touareg.

Handling
The Audi Q5 hybrid has a smaller turning radius than the Volkswagen Touareg, allowing you to more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Volkswagen Touareg is clearly the choice over the Audi Q5 hybrid for pulling heavy loads. When it comes to horsepower, the Audi Q5 hybrid has a lot less horsepower than the Volkswagen Touareg.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Audi Q5 hybrid and the Volkswagen Touareg. The Audi Q5 hybrid has less cargo space than the Volkswagen Touareg, which is okay if you don't need to move a lot in one trip.

Warranty
You'll have greater peace of mind with the more generous basic warranty of the Audi Q5 hybrid than that of the Volkswagen Touareg.
