2017 Acura MDX vs. 2016 Volvo XC90 Review

Comparison Review

Comfort
The Acura MDX offers rear passengers about the same room to stretch out as the Volvo XC90, with comparable head- and legroom. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the Acura MDX and the Volvo XC90.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Acura MDX as you will with the Volvo XC90, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Whether you pick the Acura MDX or the Volvo XC90, it's going to cost you about the same. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. In this case, the Acura MDX will cost less to deliver to the dealership than the Volvo XC90.

Dimensions
Since the Acura MDX is much slimmer than the Volvo XC90, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. When looking at overall length, the Acura MDX takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the Volvo XC90.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the Acura MDX doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Volvo XC90.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Volvo XC90 is clearly the choice over the Acura MDX for pulling heavy loads. The Acura MDX has a little less horsepower than the Volvo XC90.

Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Acura MDX and the Volvo XC90. The Acura MDX has a roomier cargo area for putting your bags or other items than the Volvo XC90.

Warranty
The Acura MDX comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Volvo XC90.
