With a fresh new facelift and three new engines this year, the 2008 Porsche Cayenne offers athletic performance, excellent cargo space, and flexibility on- and off-road capabilities. Of course, there also the panache of having the legendary Porsche crest featured prominently on the hood.
Cayenne is available in three distinct trim lines – the Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne Turbo. All models come standard with Porsche Traction Management full-time all-wheel drive with a high and low range to tackle just about any road condition. The base Cayenne is powered by a new, larger 3.6 liter V6 engine producing 290 horsepower and comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic. The faster and more upscale Cayenne S comes with a new, larger 4.8 liter V8 engine that delivers 385 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque with the Tiptronic automatic for excellent acceleration and towing capacity. The world-class Cayenne Turbo features a twin-turbocharged version of the new V8 engine rated at 500 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque mated to the Tiptronic, producing sportscar acceleration numbers.
Dynamic features include an available adjustable air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, which is a variable damping system that uses five accelerometers and electronically controlled adjustable shocks to manage body weight transfer both on and off road. The standard Porsche Communications Management includes a GPS navigation system with integrated telephone and audio control for excellent directions and communications flexibility.
New styling elements include an enlarged rear spoiler integrated into the tailgate, tighter, more sinewy fenders, and sharper, more angular headlamps. Safety features on all models include electronic stability control, traction control and a 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System with 4-wheel disc brakes with monobloc calipers. Six airbags come standard, including dual-stage front, side-impact thorax airbags for front passengers and side curtain airbags for front and rear passengers.
A luxury SUV that offer absolutely no compromises, the 2008 Porsche Cayenne offers breathtaking speed, a voluminous interior, and an aura of exclusivity.
