Porsche Boxster vs. Chrysler PT Cruiser Review

Utility
The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a better choice than the Porsche Boxster as far as hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of luggage or large animals. Drivers with frequent kid-duty might favor the Chrysler PT Cruiser over the Porsche Boxster.

Performance
The Chrysler PT Cruiser is likely to feel somewhat slow because of its high horsepower-to-weight ratio compared to the Porsche. In terms of horsepower, the Porsche Boxster packs quite a punch and will knock the PT Cruiser down a few rungs. On the flip side, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a tad heavier than the Porsche Boxster. The PT Cruiser's tank is roughly the same size as the Porsche Boxster's, though the Porsche Boxster's is slightly larger. The Chrysler PT Cruiser and the Porsche compete for the same parking spaces. The Porsche Boxster's shorter wheelbase will give a more maneuverable feel in daily traffic. On the flip side, the Chrysler is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Convenience
The Chrysler's fuel tank will need to be replenished somewhat more often than the unit in the Porsche Boxster. You'll indubitably take the Chrysler PT Cruiser for a fill-up about as often as the Porsche.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The PT Cruiser is substantially cheaper to get to the dealership than the Boxster. The Porsche Boxster pales in comparison to the Chrysler PT Cruiser as far as fuel economy. The Boxster won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Chrysler. The Boxster will tax your gasoline budget significantly more than the PT Cruiser will. There really isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Chrysler PT Cruiser is a bit more economical than the Porsche. Regarding MSRP, the Boxster costs tremendously more than the PT Cruiser. Regarding out-the-door cost, the Chrysler PT Cruiser costs tremendously less than the Porsche Boxster.

Handling
The Chrysler PT Cruiser's front-wheel drive layout likely gives it better traction in rain, snow or ice than the Boxster; however, the Boxster's rear-wheel drive layout likely provides better weight distribution. The Porsche Boxster has substantially bigger tires than the Chrysler PT Cruiser. Remember that wider tires could look and feel better, while narrower tires might provide better handling in deep snow. With its tighter turning radius, the Porsche is definitely nimbler than the Chrysler PT Cruiser, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Boxster has a bigger engine than the Chrysler PT Cruiser. Note that smaller engines typically get better gas mileage, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. The Porsche packs quite a punch compared to the Chrysler in terms of torque, which is roughly equivalent to acceleration. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Porsche Boxster is markedly more powerful than the Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Overview
The basic warranty that comes with the Chrysler isn't quite as generous as the Boxster's.

Other
The Chrysler PT Cruiser produces fewer smog-forming pollutants per 15,000 miles than the Porsche Boxster.
