With their similar turning radii, the Pontiac and the Volkswagen Rabbit definitely handle approximately the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Volkswagen has a bigger engine than the Pontiac Vibe. Bear in mind that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but smaller engines can be stressed more. Torque equals pickup, and the Volkswagen Rabbit will have picked up and gone by the time the Vibe finally gets moving. The Pontiac Vibe could learn a lesson or two from the Volkswagen Rabbit in terms of pickup.

Utility
Neither the Pontiac nor the Volkswagen Rabbit has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity.

It costs approximately the same to get the Rabbit to the dealership as the Pontiac Vibe. The Vibe doesn't pale in comparison to the Volkswagen Rabbit when it comes to gas mileage. In terms of MSRP, the Volkswagen doesn't cost much less than the Pontiac Vibe.
