You'll quite certainly take the Subaru Forester for a fill-up approximately as often as the Pontiac Torrent.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Forester offers a bit more head room than the Pontiac Torrent, there really isn't much of a difference. The Pontiac Torrent is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Subaru.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Pontiac than the Forester because of its larger tank. The Subaru Forester and the Pontiac Torrent compete for the same parking spaces. The Subaru Forester's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a nimbler feel in daily traffic than the Pontiac Torrent.
