Pontiac Torrent vs. Kia Sorento Review

Performance
Both the Torrent and the Sorento are likely to feel slightly slow because of their high horsepower-to-weight ratio.

Handling
The Kia Sorento and the Torrent have approximately similar tires. With its tighter turning radius, the Kia is very likely more agile than the Pontiac Torrent, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Pontiac's engine is a tad smaller than the Sorento's, but not terribly so. The Torrent has no lessons to learn regarding pickup from the Kia.

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Torrent and the Kia regarding transporting cargo. The Pontiac Torrent and the Sorento can accommodate the same number of passengers.

Convenience
You quite certainly won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Pontiac Torrent than with the Kia Sorento, as both offer comparable ranges.

Comfort
Taller drivers will quite a bit enjoy the extra head room in the Pontiac Torrent's front cabin compared to the Kia Sorento. The Pontiac provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Kia Sorento does.

Dimensions
The Kia Sorento is considerably more ponderous than the Pontiac. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Sorento than the Pontiac Torrent because of its bigger tank. The Kia and the Torrent compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the Torrent to the dealership as the Kia. The Sorento uses a lot of gas compared to the Pontiac. The Kia Sorento pales in comparison to the Pontiac Torrent when it comes to fuel economy. Regarding MSRP, the Kia Sorento costs about as much as the Pontiac Torrent (though the Pontiac Torrent is a bit cheaper).

Overview
The basic warranty that comes with the Torrent isn't quite as generous as the Kia Sorento's. As far as warranty against rust, the Pontiac Torrent has considerably better coverage than the Kia Sorento.
