The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Jeep Patriot to the dealership as the Pontiac Torrent. The Torrent consumes a lot of gasoline compared to the Jeep Patriot. Regarding MSRP, the Jeep Patriot costs quite a bit less than the Pontiac Torrent.

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Pontiac Torrent and the Jeep Patriot regarding hauling capacity. Neither the Jeep nor the Pontiac Torrent has a marked advantage when it comes to seating capacity. The Pontiac Torrent outpulls the Patriot by a large margin.

Convenience
The Jeep Patriot's fuel tank will need to be replenished slightly more often than the unit in the Torrent.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Jeep Patriot offers a bit more head room than the Pontiac Torrent, there frankly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Pontiac Torrent offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the Jeep Patriot, there honestly isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The Pontiac Torrent is markedly heavier than the Jeep. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Pontiac than the Jeep Patriot because of its more capacious tank. The Jeep and the Pontiac Torrent compete for the same parking spaces. The Jeep Patriot's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a more agile feel in daily traffic than the Torrent.

Handling
The Pontiac Torrent and the Jeep have roughly similar tires. With its tighter turning circle, the Patriot is very likely nimbler than the Pontiac Torrent, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Pontiac Torrent has a bigger engine than the Patriot. Keep in mind that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. The Jeep could learn a lesson or two from the Pontiac Torrent when it comes to pickup.
