Pontiac Torrent vs. Honda CR-V Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the Pontiac Torrent to the dealership as the Honda. The Pontiac Torrent pales in comparison to the Honda as far as gas mileage. The Pontiac Torrent consumes a lot of gasoline compared to the Honda CR-V. The Pontiac Torrent isn't much less expensive than the Honda CR-V as far as MSRP.

Utility
There's no obvious winner between the Honda CR-V and the Pontiac Torrent regarding transporting cargo. The Pontiac and the Honda can accommodate the same number of passengers. Towing is quite a bit more the Torrent's forte than it is the Honda's.

Convenience
You'll quite certainly have to take the Torrent for a fill-up more often than the Honda because of its tank size and gas mileage.

Comfort
Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the Pontiac Torrent's front cabin compared to the Honda CR-V. The Pontiac Torrent is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Honda CR-V.

Dimensions
The Pontiac Torrent is a tad heavier than the CR-V. The Honda CR-V's tank is about the same size as the Pontiac's, though the Pontiac Torrent's is a bit more capacious. The Honda CR-V and the Pontiac Torrent compete for the same parking spaces. The Pontiac's longer wheelbase will likely result in a smoother, more stable ride; however, the Honda CR-V may give a nimbler feel in daily traffic.

Performance
Both the Torrent and the CR-V are likely to feel a tad sluggish because of their high horsepower-to-weight ratio.

Handling
The Pontiac Torrent and the Honda have roughly comparable tires. With its tighter turning circle, the Honda CR-V is definitely sprier than the Pontiac Torrent, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, keep in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Honda CR-V's engine is quite a bit smaller than the Pontiac Torrent's. Keep in mind that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the other hand, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Pontiac Torrent will have picked up and gone by the time the Honda finally gets moving. The Pontiac packs quite a punch compared to the CR-V as far as torque, which is roughly equivalent to acceleration.

Overview
The Honda CR-V and the Pontiac Torrent have the same basic warranty.
