The Ford Edge and the Pontiac Torrent can accommodate the same number of passengers. Towing is significantly more the Torrent's forte than it is the Ford Edge's.

Dimensions
The Ford is significantly more bulky than the Pontiac Torrent. The Ford Edge's tank is approximately the same size as the Torrent's, though the Pontiac's is a little larger. The Ford and the Pontiac Torrent compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You most certainly won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Ford Edge than with the Pontiac Torrent, as both offer similar ranges.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Pontiac Torrent to the dealership as the Ford. There frankly isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Ford Edge is slightly more economical than the Pontiac Torrent. The Pontiac doesn't pale in comparison to the Ford Edge in terms of gas mileage. When it comes to MSRP, the Ford Edge costs significantly more than the Torrent.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Ford is most certainly more agile than the Pontiac Torrent, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Ford Edge's engine isn't much larger than the Pontiac Torrent's. Torque equals pickup, and the Ford will have picked up and gone by the time the Pontiac Torrent finally gets moving.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Pontiac Torrent offers a bit more head room than the Ford Edge, there honestly isn't much of a difference. The Pontiac Torrent is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Edge.

Warranty
The Pontiac Torrent and the Ford have the same basic warranty.
