Pontiac Torrent vs. Dodge Journey Review

The Dodge Journey will quite certainly prove friendlier than the Pontiac for those of you with frequent child-cargo. The Torrent outpulls the Dodge Journey by a big margin.

Dimensions
The Pontiac Torrent's tank is roughly the same size as the Dodge Journey's, though the Dodge's is a bit larger. The Pontiac and the Dodge Journey compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The Dodge Journey's fuel tank will need to be replenished a little more often than the unit in the Pontiac Torrent.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Dodge Journey to the dealership as the Pontiac. Producing an exact gas mileage evaluation is so tricky that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the Pontiac and the Pontiac perform about comparably as far as gas mileage. With respect to gas mileage, the Pontiac Torrent and the Dodge Journey don't differ much. The Dodge Journey is significantly less expensive than the Pontiac in terms of MSRP.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Dodge Journey is quite certainly sprier than the Torrent, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, bear in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Pontiac Torrent has a larger engine than the Dodge. Remember that smaller engines typically get better gas mileage, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Pontiac Torrent is substantially more powerful than the Journey. The Dodge Journey could learn a lesson or two from the Pontiac Torrent when it comes to pickup.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Pontiac Torrent offers a bit more head room than the Dodge Journey, there honestly isn't much of a difference. The Pontiac Torrent provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Dodge Journey does.

The Journey and the Pontiac Torrent have the same basic warranty.
