2009 Pontiac Torrent Overview
The 2009 Pontiac Torrent is a crossover sport utility vehicle that appeals to either families on the go or singles who like all the great features of a car with the room of an SUV.
The Torrent is available in two engine types. A 3.4-liter, 185-horsepower V-6 five-speed automatic with Adaptive Learning Capability comes standard. For those who would like a little more oomph, a 3.6-liter, 264-horsepower V-6 is available in the GXP trim. Both engines are comparable if not more powerful than its competitors: the Dodge Journey, Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty and Maxda CX-7. The 2009 Pontiac Torrent clocks in 24 MPG on the highway and 17 MPG while tooling around town.

Even with the additional features, the Torrent comes in around $31,000. The base model is a value at less than $25,000.
