Pontiac Overview:

For 2009, Pontiac offers the first North American model based on a new global platform with the high-performance G8 sports sedan. This aggressively-styled full-size sedan features rear-wheel drive for excellent handling and boasts an available 362-horsepower V-8 engine that provides serious acceleration.

Pontiac's new hatchback, the G3 subcompact, has four doors and is almost identical to the Chevrolet Aveo5. The compact G5 and midsize G6 have been well-received. The G5 is available only as a compact coupe and now features standard satellite radio and side curtain airbags. The stylish G6 is offered as a sedan, coupe, retractable hardtop convertible, and a high-performance GXP model.

The Solstice two-seat roadster was given a boost with the GXP turbocharged version last year and continues to improve with several new features that come standard on both trim levels: a CD stereo with MP3 player input and both OnStar and XM Satellite Radio. The Solstice is now available in a coupe with antilock brakes and an electronic stability system.

The Torrent receives new trim levels, highlighted by a 264-horsepower V-6 engine available in front- or all-wheel drive. Side curtain airbags are now standard on all Torrent models.

The four-door hatchback Vibe continues to provide ample cargo room, thrifty fuel economy, and strong safety features such as side airbags and an electronic stability system. Expect more space and improved fuel economy for 2009.

The Grand Prix midsize sedan was discontinued for 2009.
