The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix continues unchanged this year with a solid combination of performance, interior room, and advanced safety features.
The full-size, four-door Grand Prix is available as a base model or a sporty GXP model. The base Grand Prix sedan features a 200-horsepower 3.8 liter V6 engine with electronic throttle control. The uplevel GXP touts a 5.3 liter V8 with 303 horsepower and 323 lb.-ft. of torque and Active Fuel Management, which deactivates up to four cylinders to maximize fuel economy while cruising. Both transmissions are mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with available TAPshift manumatic shifting ability.
Safety features include dual-stage front airbags, front and rear side airbags, and head curtain airbags to protect both rows of passengers in a collision. An available 4-wheel anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution offers excellent stopping power and minimal wheel lockup. Standard Traction Control and StabiliTrak stability control offers enhanced control during evasive maneuvers and minimizes wheelspin on slippery surfaces. A variety of 16”, 17”, and 18” aluminum wheels are available to give the Grand Prix a custom aftermarket look. Multiple aerodynamic spoilers are available, adding to the car’s already aggressive, purposeful look. Base models feature a 4-wheel independent WideTrack suspension for excellent balance and handling, while GXP models offer a performance-tuned version for even crisper response.
Available dual-zone climate control offers rear seats heating/cooling outlets and individual control for driver and front passenger. Available heated front seats offer warmth and comfort for driver and front passenger. Standard 60/40 split folding rear seatbacks offer additional cargo flexibility. An optional Monsoon premium 9-speaker sound system includes a 6-disc in-dash CD changer, a DVD-based navigation system with a programmable equalizer, available XM® Satellite Radio, detailed maps and turn-by-turn directions to guide you on your way.
Although it is in need of a redesign soon, the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix is a solid-performing full-size sedan that offers excellent performance and value.
